Gilles de Rais has an army of homunculi and flying Portuguese men o’war that are borne into the air by boiling almond milk. He is piped into battle by Sawney Bean playing a set of great pipes made from a human baby.
This army can be deployed according to a wide range of military strategies (Clausewitz, Sun Tzu, etc.) to test their applicability to various situations.
